"NIGHT" WINNERS!!

Congratulations Orion and Kim, you've both done it again!!
And to Fullmoondolphin, your winning runner-up shot was only ONE, yes ONE vote behind!
Great photos from everyone, and the top 3 winners deserve kudos and cream pies of their choices in their faces! WooooooHoooo! **splat!**
Thank you to all the voters, without you we couldn't do this. In a couple more weeks we'll be doing our next contest, "Cemeteries". Stay tuned!

Wow...I seriously thought O's first shot was the clear cut winner... thanks to those who voted for mine!
And count me out of the next one... I have ZERO cemetary shots.
Congrats Kim and Orion! Excellent shots!
Congrats to all 3 of you for terrific shots!
**splat!!** LOL
You know, I thought my SECOND shot (Portland Waterfront) was my best one - and it barely got any votes at all.
I absolutely have NO idea what people like! *laughs*
Great job to everyone!
Orion
Did you use a long exposure for the waterfront shot, or was it just a 'point and shoot' shot? If not, I think that would have brightened it up alot more. IMHO, it's just a little too dark. My winning shot was using a 15 second exposure, IIRC.
Just my humble opinion. But I *REALLY* like your first shot!
It was a fairly long exposure - About 8 or 9 seconds, if I recall. (I wanted it dark, actually - I like the way it contrasted the colors on the water). I tried some longer ones that were brighter and just didn't care much for 'em - didn't bring out that NIGHT feel (I actually took that shot over 3 years ago!)
If you can believe this, that fireworks shot was half-second hand-held while hanging out the side of CH-47D Chinook flying at about 500' and into a heck of a headwind with a 100' flag slung under it. Those things shake INSANELY and that shot (and a few others) just timed PERFECTLY...
Orion
You're kidding??!! Damn, that shot came out incredible for being in a shaky Chinook!
I prefer seeing more light in night shots - I like seeing more detail, than just night. That's just my preference, though. :)
That's what makes it FUN!
There's the science part, and then there's the art part; And that's why ever photographer's work is different. And more interesting because of it!
Orion
Congrats to Kim and Orion, and thanks to those who voted for me! Everyone had some great shots - again!
Orion, how amazing - I'm seriously impressed with the story of that shot!
Looking forward to the next contest. Cemeteries are my favourite subject, so I'm really interested to see what everyone posts.
Have a great day, all!
